If you have one of these old Ankmar doors with the steel styles, then there is a high probability that you have this problem.  The bottom and top of these styles have a bent piece of metal that breaks off.  This causes the door panels to start to separate and pull apart.  This also causes the door to not line up properly when it is opening and closing.

If the door does not line up properly when it is closing it can cause damage to the door panels and they don't make these doors anymore so getting a replacement panel is not possible.  The worst thing that can happen is that the door doesn't line up, the cable on one side gets a little slack in it, then the cable will pop off the drum, wrap around the torsion bar and you will be calling someone for a garage door repair because the door has come off of the track.  Sometimes this can cause you to need a new door.  Sometimes we can get these back in place and bend everything back into place.
